Mischaracterised Voice
Peter Dutton’s call for more detail about the Voice is a disingenuous spoiling tactic for political purposes. Unfortunately too many people are falling in line.

As PM, Kevin Rudd was often criticised for being a ‘policy wonk’ rather than the leader the nation needed and wanted. Since his departure from politics he has resumed his interest in policy, drawing on his education and experience related to China. His explanation of what drives China, or Xi Jingping as leader, is clear and convincing. Understanding that might enable us to avoid deadly conflict.
Dyson replaced the main unit on our ‘out of warranty’ vacuum cleaner for free. It would have cost $299 but was out of stock when I called and their policy in such cases is to replace the item at no charge. That’s a good deal.
One of my recent/current tasks involves our younger daughter’s disused iMac. It’s a 2011 model which she mostly abandoned using some years ago (ca 2018) because the 512 GB HDD was full to the point where the system was complaining. She subsequently (early 2019) borrowed my MacBook Pro and liked that enough that I let her keep it and moved...
At various times since our granddaughter, Claire, was born with Cri du Chat syndrome in late 2010 I’ve been involved with the website for the Cri du Chat Support Group. Our first effort was built using Drupal hosted on Drupal Gardens (since defunct). That worked but seemed a little complicated for most members to engage with. One of the parent...
When I last set up a blog on wordpress.com (for our 2012 trip to the USA and Canada – since moved to our own site) the process seemed simple enough. Once the blog was created I had no problems with posting daily updates. That may have been partly due to prior experience but the interface was simple and the classic...
I have a regular reminder to post here but I’ve been slack for the past few months despite having good intentions and occasional ideas. A week or so ago we went to Brisbane to catch up with Majella’s sisters there. Over coffee Angela quizzed me about a few things on her new Macbook Air, including how she might blog upcoming...
An LNP staffer in Brisbane has registered the albanese.com.au Internet domain and redirected it to the Liberal Party website. I first noticed the story on INQueensland but it is also reported elsewhere. Registering a domain is not difficult or expensive but a .com.au domain does require an ABN. This effort does appear to be in breach of the .auDA regulations...
We won’t be cleaning like Scotty for the upcoming election but for real with our late 2018 Dyson V10 vacuum cleaner. It’s trigger switch has been dodgy for a while and on Monday it gave up completely when I was almost finished cleaning the car after our recent trip. Nobody in Toowoomba claimed to do service for Dyson cleaners. A...
There is a federal election in the near future so Scotty is preparing the ground. We’ve had premature announcements about dams that are still awaiting clearance from agencies he established and promises of development projects in South East Queensland. Now he’s attempting to clear away some other barnacles on his record. As The Monthly news noted today, it’s been Nine...
